Forty Adventures #9A – January

For my January adventure I spent the end of 2019 through the first week of January touring the Pacific Northwest. This trip was a fall back into the theme of “tourist traps, tacky gift shops, and Americana.” It’s good to get back to my roots of Fiji mermaids and America’s largest crap that no one asked for. I stayed at my first AirBnBs on this trip, got my first rental car in over a year, and got dozens of smashed pennies. Reisen ist die gesündeste Sucht

Two of my besties are brothers. This is both good and bad. It’s cool because knowing both makes me part of their family. I’m not just Travis’s friend or Tyler’s friend when I stop by (yep, all 3 brothers have T names, nope I’m neither friends nor unfriendly with Trevor). When I come over it’s “Hey Andy, the family friend!”

I want you to know that we’re on our way…to find the American Dream…That’s why we rented this car. It was the only way to do it. – HST

Today at lunch I picked up my mobile base for the next 3 weeks! The intermediate and full-size class cars were the same price so I went with the larger of the two. When I showed up at Hertz, they didn’t have the full-size so I got a free upgrade! Tonight I’m going to load up some of my stuff and tomorrow morning before work I’m taking it to the park to calibrate the CB and antenna. Let’s take a look at my ride!

Complete customer satisfaction. That is the principle that has guided our company along our journey so far, and it remains our goal today.

Am I petty person? I don’t feel like a petty person but this post might suggest I am. The title of this post was lifted directly from the Commitment to Customer Service by Enterprise Holdings, the people who own Enterprise car rental. This (petty) post is all about a horrible interaction I had with the company and why I no longer patronize them. The fact that I’ve held onto the letters and photos in this post after so many years is silly but it demonstrates how bad customer service can really stay with a customer.
