I survived the Clown Motel! There’s a lot that can be said for it but I think it’s better if everyone experiences it for themselves. No database system, no confirmation emails, leaving keys under mats, next to a 100 year old cemetery, sketchy bathroom. This place has it all…or rather has nothing…I don’t know, man, just stay there and figure it out for yourself.
The title quote is for Vinny, who is fairly certain I won’t make it through the night. Tonight I sleep in the infamous Clown Motel of Tonopah, NV.

While most of my trips focus on the tourist trap theme, I’m always looking for places that offer animal encounters. In order to get me moving though, these encounters have to be more that just feeding goats at some third rate petting zoo. That’s a lie. I’ve traveled over an hour to feed goats, pigs, and llamas at a crappy backyard “animal rescue.” My love of animals and my love of travel have frequently combined for animal encounter adventures. This post will focus on four.
